Emergency services called to River Barrow in Carlow Town near Graiguecullen
It happened at about 7pm last evening

Emergency services were called to the River Barrow in Carlow last evening.
It’s understood three men, who’d launched a boat close to Graiguecullen, had gotten into difficulty at Lanigan’s Lock at about 7pm.
A caller concerned for their welfare alerted emergency services.
Carlow Fire & Rescue Services say a caller was concerned for the welfare – Carlow Town boat crew made contact with them and were satisfied that there was no requirement for a rescue to be carried out.
GardaĆ and fire personnel were among those who assisted them.
A Garda spokesperson’s told KCLR News “No Garda Action was required, no offences were disclosed and no one was injured”.
Meanwhile, Carlow Fire Services also say “During the current warm spell, Carlow Fire Service would like to remind those engaging in water based activities of the importance of life jackets, you should always wear a life jacket when on, in, or near water. In addition, you should remember to not enter water or go swimming if alcohol has been consumed”.
