GSOC notified of ‘the discharge of a less-lethal device’ during Carlow digger chase

The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission has been notified of yesterday’s digger chase in Carlow.

Gardaí responding to the theft of a heavy plant machine in the county led what they’ve described as a ‘managed pursuit’ before stopping the vehicle and arresting a man for alleged traffic offences.

He remains in custody this morning.

A garda spokesperson has confirmed to KCLR News that during the incident a less-lethal device was discharged by a member of the force and struck a vehicle and this has been notified to GSOC in line with agreed protocols.
