Independent councillor in new bid to stop CAS
A Kilkenny Cllr’s moving an urgent motion calling for a special meeting of the council to halt work on the Central Access Scheme.
Breda Gardiner says the council executive breached the Local Government Act relating to the process of informing councillors about the signing of the contracts and the start of the construction work.
She says legal advice given to the special meeting of the council in June was based on incorrect information and she’s sought a second opinion that contradicts the original advice.
Cllr Gardner’s wants all work at Green’s Bridge stopped immediately – unless proof can be produced that all the mandatory obligations have been fulfilled.
She has the support of the Green party and Sinn Fein and is now awaiting a date for the special meeting of the council.
