The way has been cleared for Kilkenny County Council to go ahead with the proposed redevelopment of the Brewhouse Building on the former Smithwick’s Brewery Site.
A number of third parties had asked An Bord Pleanála whether the development would be likely to have a significant effect on the environment.
Kilkenny County Council says they welcome the decision of An Bord Pleanála that the proposed redevelopment of the Brewhouse Building on the Smithwick’s site does not need an Environmental Impact Statement.
Having looked at the matter, An Bord Pleanála said the proposed development would not be likely to have a significant effect on the environment.
The decision clears the way for the Council to proceed with the proposed redevelopment of the Brewhouse Building.
Demolition works by Diageo have now been completed and it is expected that the Council will take possession of the site before the end of this month.
Site investigation works for the Brewhouse will start once the council takes possession of the site with construction works expected to start in 2017.
