A court appearance is due for the person who was arrested in connection with the Digger chase earlier this week.
The incident was sparked on Wednesday morning following the alleged theft of a heavy plant machine from Tullow and led to a ‘managed pursuit’ which involved a number of Garda cars and helicopter worked its way through Carlow, Tullow, Ballon and Castledermot.
The vehicle was stopped on the Bunclody side of Ballon, a man aged in his forties was arrested on alleged traffic offences and he’s since been charged.
He is due to appear in Court later this morning.
Gardaí continue to investigate the incident and are appealing for any related images or footage to be made available to them.
While the GSOC confirmed to KCLR News yesterday that the discharging of a less-lethal device which was discharged by a garda and struck a vehicle during the incident has been notified to them but say nobody was physically injured in relation to this.
