There remains no resolution for the family of a Kilkenny woman who was reported missing forty years ago today.
Marie Tierney left her home at Clintstown, Jenkinstown on the night of the 21st of October 1984 and was reported missing by her husband Jim the following day.
Her car was then found at Newpark Fen and two months later, on the 21st of December, her body was discovered in a ditch on the Bleach Road by a man out walking.
She’d been strangled.
A file has been submitted to the DPP but nobody’s as yet been held to account.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has told KCLR News that their thoughts are with the Tierney and Burke families and that they continue to seek the public’s assistance in this case.
It’s believed there are people who may have information that could advance the case and they ask them to come forward saying it’s never too late – even something that appears to be small could greatly assist and give closure to Marie’s family.
