The road to the 2016 Academy Awards is paved with other award shows, as it happens, including the Londno Critics Film Circle Awards which took place ast night.
Mad Max: Fury Road picked up multiple prizes at two awards where its star Tom Hardy won an acting accolade and George Miller was named best director.
He repeated that success at the Critics Choice Awards in America where the film won a total of 9 gongs.
Meanwhile Leonardo DiCaprio got best actor for The Revenant – Brie Larson was named best actress for Room – while Spotlight picked up Best Film.
Local eyes on 28 February will be on Saoirse Ronan as she goes up against Brie Larson for Best Actress this year for her performance in Brooklyn.
