Tesco has officially submitted its planning application for a Kilkenny city supermarket.
We reported recently the intention of the retail giant to do so and now can confirm that it’s landed with the local authority. (See it here in full).
The plan is for the former mart site which spans c3.91 hectares between the Castlecomer Road, New Road and the Old Mart Street.
There the aim is to construct a mixed residential and retail development with a total gross floor area of c.13,165sqm.
It includes 17 houses, 17 duplexes, 46 apartments with one, eight-block assisted care home and 90 car parking spaces as well as a single story retail unit
Kilkenny had been the only county in the country to not have a Tesco outlet until November last year when one of its Express offerings opened in Ferrybank while it confirmed its High Street, Kilkenny shop will open mid October of this year.
A decision is due on this third bid on the 24th of September.
