Wexford councillors “cant understand” Kilkennys opposition to New Ross Bridge name

A Wexford Councillor says he can’t understand the controversy over the naming of a new bridge from Kilkenny to New Ross.
Locals in South Kilkenny and in New Ross have been calling for a public consultation on what the bridge – which is being built at the moment – should be called.
New Ross Town Council have decided that they would like to see it called the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge in honour of the mother of the Kennedy’s, whose homestead can be seen from it.
However, many people think that other names would be more fitting.
Speaking to KCLR today, New Ross Councillor, Larry O’Brien says they’ll be meeting with Piltown’s Council to discuss the name.
