2 All Ireland winning hurlers from Kilkenny presented flags to secondary students from all around the country at Croke park yesterday.
A national flag ceremony to mark the 1916 centenary year and the Defence forces were there to assist with presenting flag and proclamation packs to 6000 students including representatives from every second level school in Carlow and Kilkenny.
2 of the 4 army representatives were Kilkenny men.
Major General Kieran Brennan who is the Deputy Chief of Staff with the defence forces and holder of 2 All Ireland medals and 1 All star award and Corporal Paul Murphy who is part of the current Kilkenny hurling squad and holder of 4 All Ireland medals and 4 All star awards were on hand to present flag packs to the students.
