Clean up underway across Carlow and Kilkenny after visit of Storm Agnes

A number of ESB customers locally are still without power today

Over 270 ESB customers across Carlow and Kilkenny remain without power this morning, with ESB reporting it should be restored by 5pm this evening.

But it’s a far cry from the 6,000 across both counties who had no electricity from lunchtime yesterday.

The ESB’s ‘Powercheck’ website – where customers can check an estimated return time – is currently down but advice from them if you need to Report a fault or If you see or know of damaged lines or Network DO NOT TOUCH DO NOT GO NEAR instead ring immediately on 1800 372 999 or +353 21 2382410 (24 hours/7 days service).

Most routes that were closed for a time while fallen poles and trees were removed have since reopened while various amenities and services that closed up for the day are business as usual today.

Among them was An Post’s outlet on High Street in Kilkenny after the wind had an impact on some of its upper windows.

A number of KCLR listeners reported bins falling over and rubbish emptying in parts but the clean-up’s underway.
