Three communities across Carlow and Kilkenny have this morning been earmarked for a combined total of over €140,000 in funding.
As part of the government’s Town Centre First suite of supports, Callan, Paulstown and Tullow will receive funding, aimed at developing different community initiatives.
Tullow has been awarded €41, 000 to assess the enhancement of the park in the town centre to provide a modern play area with accessible natural paths and family friendly areas. Funding will bring the design of the park through to the planning stage and the production of detailed designs and tender documents.
Callan has been given €49,950 to establish an outdoor classroom community space in Abbey Field and examine the re-development of a derelict cottage in Moate Field and complete biodiversity studies on both sites
Paulstown has also received €49,950 to complete a feasibility and design study for the creation of a centre point in the village, consisting of an open public green space with seating and leisure facilities. This will redevelop the village centre and provide accessibility between the main street and residential areas.
It’s all part of the €2.6 million announced today by The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD.
