For Barbara is a personal story of love and loss in a time when there was no legal recognition of gay relationships in Ireland. It tells the story of Barbara Gill a lecturer in development education in the teacher training colleges in Dublin who lived in Kilkenny with her partner Ruth O’Dwyer. Her tragic story and the aftermath is told beautifully by Ruth and her mother Margaret Gill.
