Gardaí are seeking to allay fears of those living in rural homes following two local aggravated burglaries this week.
Both happened at about 5:30pm in the evening – one at Aughamucky in Castlecomer on Monday, the second on Wednesday just outside Clonegal village in Carlow – and in each three to four masked men gained entry to the homes and tied or attempted to tie up the occupants.
It’s not yet known if the incidents are linked and there are concerns that others may go through the same traumatic experience.
