Inquiry under way into death of 36-year-old woman in St Luke’s on Monday

An internal inquiry is being carried out into the death of a local woman in St Luke’s Hospital on Monday.

Tracey Fitzpatrick from Templepeter in Co Carlow died shortly after giving birth to a baby boy at the local hospital.

In a statement to KCLR this morning, the HSE said a postmortem was performed on the mother-of-three yesterday and an internal review process has commenced with a full investigation to follow.

They also say that the staff and management of St Luke’s are currently focussing on supporting the family at this very sad time.

Requiem mass for Ms Fitzpatrick will be held tomorrow morning at St Patrick’s Church, Rathoe at 11 o’clock before removal to her native Knock, Co Mayo.
