Local Gardai issue security tips for your phone ahead of National Crime Prevention Day

The local Crime prevention officer is appealing to you to take measures to secure your smartphone.

Sgt Peter McConnon says Garda stations in Carlow and Kilkenny are dealing constantly with people who have lost their mobile phone or had it stolen.

Ahead of National Crime prevention day next week Gardai are issuing tips to help make people a little more streetwise when it comes to their phones.

Sergeant McConnon says having a record of your unique IMEI number is a good start.

You can retrieve it by dialing *#06# on your phone and the advise is to take a screenshot of the number and email it to yourself so that you have it if your phone is lost or stolen.
