A local postmistress says up to 3 thousand jobs could be lost in post offices if their services are reduced.
Elaine Bryan from Callan was speaking after a report by Grant Thornton suggested that the loss of cash pension payments and social welfare benefits being paid would spell the end of many small post offices across the country.
Shes calling on communities in Carlow/Kilkenny to show their support.
