Plans for two new Kilkenny city hotels look set to progress.
Spark Way Limited’s been granted permission by the county council to clear a .3 hectare site on the Dublin Road side of MacDonagh Junction shopping centre to build a seven storey premises with 99 ensuite bedrooms.
Restaurants, bars, meeting & function rooms also form part of the proposal with a gym and also a public plaza.
While a vehicle set-down is proposed along Dublin Road, with a provision too for 18 bicycle spaces.
Works to demolish a limestone wall which is part of the Protected Structure of MacDonagh Station (Ref. D86) and its reuse within the site is also proposed.
While Salway Limited’s on track to transform the former Hebron House after they too have gotten the go-ahead from the local authority.
Their two and three storey development will include 136 bedrooms with leisure and conference complex with the construction of an access road off the N10.
Also proposed is the redevelopment and landscaping of the existing walled garden as well as the development of a landscaped parkland along the Pococke
river, including footpaths and cycleways and a hotel car and bus park.
