In News …

Locally: The Kilkenny man opposed to the Marriage Equality Referendum result has had his legal challenge dismissed by the Court of Appeal.  Over 70s can register for free GP care today with the service coming on stream next Wednesday.  A Carlow creche owner is critical of the Government for the lack of funding for privately-owned businesses like hers.  Kilkenny Councillors will take the next step with the Brewery site at a meeting this morning.

Elsewhere:  Three former Anglo Irish Bank executives will be sentenced later after being found guilty of trying to defraud Revenue.  Up to 300 new jobs are being created in Cashel, Co Tipperary.  Negotiators from the European Union and International Monetary Fund will begin formal talks today on Greece’s next bailout.

Kilkenny’s camogie side will face the winners of Tipperary & Cork in the semi-finals of the Senior championship.  Ahead of the county’s senior hurlers meet with Waterford Eoin Larkin shares his views.  In Carlow the Junior Football B championship got underway with wins for Tinryland, Askea, O’Hanrahans & Eire Og.  Paulstown boxer Darren O’Neill will captain Team Ireland in Bulgaria at the European Men’s Elite Championships next week.

John Masterson brings you KCLR Live 10am to 12noon with the day’s issues and more.  The shortlist is out in the Together for Better campaign with the Kilkenny Café and we start meeting some of the finalists.  Also on the show today we hear from a new Carlow Kilkenny group called The Lighthouse Foundation which aims to help those suffering from Depression.  Local musician and actor Colin O’Brien will be in studio to play a few tunes while the Friday Panel will debate some of the week’s big news stories including the fate of Irish Water, the former Anglo Irish Bank executives found guilty of trying to defraud Revenue and the killing of Cecil the Lion.  And, as KCLR supports the HSE Mental Health Campaign, this programme will be asking listeners for the Little Things they do to help lift their own mood or what they would recommend to a friend that might be struggling with anxiety or just feeling down?
