A Carlow man was threatened with a hammer when he disturbed raiders at his home last week.
Jack Teehan from Tullow pulled into the yard of his home to find 3 burglars just about to leave.
When Mr Teehan used his car to block their exit, they threatened to beat him with a hammer.
However Mr Teehan then produced his own hammer and smashed a window in their Volkswagen Passat before the thieves fled across the fields.
