Gardaí are asking people to be more vigilant as bogus tradesmen appear to be doing the rounds again.
Such people will call to your house offering to do some work, to cleaning gutters, doing some tarmacadam or power washing around the area.
Advice is to ensure you get a written quote, preferably from the business with with a company letterhead.
And if you’ve concerns you may have been caught out Sgt John Duffy says; “If you’re in any doubt, whatsoever, even if you feel you’ve done something a little bit silly, you know, brought somebody in to do some work for you and you’re afterwards saying how could you have made that mistake, please call us, let us know, take a description of the people that you see that you have working around the place, take the number plates of any cars that they have so we can at least follow up afterwards and see if this is genuine or it’s not genuine but as much information as we can get, if you’ve cameras outside your house make sure they’re on”.
