On the eve of the end of Pride 2021, KCLR is reiterating its support to the LGBTQ+ community in Carlow and Kilkenny.
Last Friday the local broadcaster took part in the airing of a special spoken-word piece ‘Rainbow Blood’ (more on that here)
We’ve been outlining issues facing some locally, including the burning of a flag outside a business in Ballon over the weekend (listen back here)
That flag’s set to be replaced this evening by members of the Carlow Pride Festival who will be joined by drag queens to present a new one to the owners of Cafe de Mode.
The same group has the latest issue of The Out Mag circulating today (details here) while there’s a special virtual event this Wednesday evening on how Carlow and Kilkenny LGBTQ+ community’s coping in rural Ireland (find out about that here).
Members of Team KCLR who are on-site at the broadcast centre for Carlow and Kilkenny have been showing their support too:
Meanwhile, if there’s an issue you’d like to raise or a celebration to mark we’d love to hear from you: call 1890 90 96 96, text/WhatsApp to 083 306 96 96 or email [email protected]
