Kilkenny County Council have published the shortlist of names for the new Central Access Scheme (CAS) bridge which are being put out for public comment.

90 submissions were received by the council with 67 names suggested for the naming of the new bridge, stemming from the public consultation process in February of this year.

Members of the public are being invited to comment on the shortlist for the naming of the bridge before 5pm, Friday 21 April, directly to Kilkenny County Council or alternatively by email to [email protected].

We’re asking you for your opinion* and you can have your say on the names with the poll below.

Those names in the running include Berkeley Bridge, Cathedral Bridge, Chancellors Bridge, Edmond Smithwick Bridge, Edmund Rice Bridge, William Marshall Brige, St. Francis Bridge and Strongbow’s Bridge.

Kilkenny County Council will select the most appropriate name, using the criteria in the Council’s Naming and Commemorative Memorial Policy which can be viewed here.
