Around 3,500 homes in North Kilkenny & Laois are without water this morning.
Irish Water says the mechanical failure of a pump at the Galmoy Water Treatment plant is to blame for the outage with customers in the Galmoy and Rathdowney areas affected.
Work on restoring the supply is continuing and its hoped it’ll be back up and running by noon today.
In the meantime a stand pipe will be available at the National school in Johnstown from 9 this morning until 8 tonight.
If you’re availing of it the water will need to be boiled before use.
