Body recovered in County Kilkenny

The week started with sad news that the body of a County Waterford man was recovered from the River Suir near Fiddown on Monday morning.

‘Unsavoury incident’ being investigated by Kilkenny city Gardai

Kilkenny Gardai appeal for witnesses as a lone male was stopped by 4 men who claimed to be carrying a knife, and ordered to hand over his wallet, phone and keys.

Sinn Fein councillor suspended

South Kilkenny Sinn Fein councillor Melissa O’Neill revealed she was stepping down from the party due to health reasons, while while other party members claim she was suspended following a video published at the weekend. The lady who filmed the video claimed she was not being terrorised.

Carlow cancer sufferer subject of fake Facebook page

A Carlow teenager with a rare form of cancer is calling for a fake Facebook page using her image to be taken down. In an update, Facebook are refusing to re-instate a Carlow cancer sufferer’s page because she looks different now than she did in her passport picture.

String of burglaries being investigated in Carlow

Houses in Oakley Park, Oakley Grove, Fiacc’s Terrace were all targeted in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Man in his 40s charged over Carlow town drug seizure

€100,000 worth of cannabis herb was discovered as part of an organised search in the town. Gardaí from the Kilkenny/Carlow Drugs Unit were involved in the search of a premises in Carlow town.

4,000 local jobs depend on drinks & hospitality sector

4,533 jobs in Carlow and Kilkenny are dependent on the drinks and hospitality sector.

That’s according to a new report by a top economist as part of the drinks industry’s ‘Support Your Local’ campaign for 2016.

In pictures: Kilkenny footballers train at Nowlan Park ahead of London showdown

KCLR got a look behind the scenes at one of Kilkenny’s footballers training sessions, current British Junior Champions, ahead of their clash on Saturday against London at Nowlan Park. Kilkenny were defeated on Saturday evening on a 4-6 to 0-9 scoreline.
